Your privacy is important. In this privacy policy, I, Laurens DC, explain what personal data I collect and how I use it when you visit my website or contact me.
1. Who is responsible for your data?
I, Laurens DC, am the controller for the processing of personal data as described in this policy.
My details are:
Laurens DC
9000 Ghent, Belgium
For questions about this privacy policy or about your data, you can contact me at: privacy@laurensdc.com
2. What data do I collect and why?
I collect very limited personal data, and only when necessary.
If you send me an email
What data? Your email address, your name (if you provide it), and the information you include in your message.
Why? To be able to answer your question or respond to your message.
Retention period: I keep these emails for as long as necessary to handle your query and for any follow-up, unless a longer statutory retention period applies.
If you register for a workshop via Tally
What data? Your name and email address. This data is collected via a form on the website of Tally, an external service provider.
Why? To manage your registration for the workshop, to inform you about the workshop (confirmation, practical details, any changes), and for any aftercare directly related to that workshop.
Recipient: This data is processed by Tally (tally.so). Tally acts as a processor on my behalf. Tally’s privacy policy also applies to the data collection via their platform.
Retention period: I keep this registration data for the time necessary for the organization and follow-up of the workshop, unless a longer statutory retention period applies (for example, for accounting purposes).
Website Statistics (via Simple Analytics)
What data? I use Simple Analytics to collect general statistics about website visits (such as which pages are visited and from which country visitors come). This tool is privacy first: it does not collect personal data like IP addresses and does not use cookies to track you. The data is anonymous and aggregated.
Why? To understand how my website is used and to be able to improve it.
Recipient: The anonymous data is processed by Simple Analytics.
External Links (e.g., YouTube)
My website may contain links to other websites, such as YouTube. If you click on such a link, you leave my website. Please be aware that these external websites have their own privacy policies and may collect data or place cookies. I have no control over this.
3. Cookies
My website itself does not place tracking cookies or other non-essential cookies that track your personal browsing behavior. As mentioned, Simple Analytics also works without cookies. Therefore, you do not need to give cookie consent on my site.
4. Sharing data with third parties
I only share your personal data with third parties if it is necessary for the purposes described above, or if I am legally obliged to do so. Specifically, this involves:
- Tally: For managing workshop registrations.
- Simple Analytics: For processing anonymous website statistics.
- DigitalOcean: My hosting provider has technical access to the servers on which the website runs.
- Gmail: My email provider for receiving and sending emails.
I never sell your data to third parties.
5. How long do I keep your data?
I do not keep your personal data for longer than is strictly necessary to achieve the purposes for which your data is collected, unless there is a legal obligation to keep it longer (such as the fiscal retention obligation).
6. Security of your data
I take the protection of your data seriously and take appropriate technical and organizational measures to prevent misuse, loss, unauthorized access, unwanted disclosure, and unauthorized modification.
7. Your rights
You have several rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to access: You may request to see what personal data I process about you.
- Right to rectification: If your data is incorrect, you can ask me to correct it.
- Right to erasure (‘right to be forgotten’): You can ask me to delete your data, unless I have a legal reason to keep it.
- Right to restriction of processing: You can ask to temporarily stop the processing of your data in certain cases.
- Right to object: You may object to the processing of your data if it is based on my legitimate interest.
- Right to data portability: You may ask to receive your data in a readable format or to have it transferred directly to another organization (if technically possible and the processing is based on consent or a contract).
- Right to withdraw consent: If the processing of your data is based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw this consent at any time.
Do you want to exercise one of these rights? Please send an email to privacy@laurensdc.com. I may ask you to prove your identity before I respond to your request.
